Call for Papers: New Zealand Geography Conference, 1 - 4 February 2016, Dunedin, New Zealand
Where to next for Tourism Geographies?

As fields of study, tourism and geography have long intersected. Shared interests and concerns, such as sustainability, well-being, resilience, migration, development, climate change and many others, continue to irrevocably link tourism and geography. Yet tourism geographies seem to linger at the fringes of mainstream social and cultural geographical research; never quite being part of geography departments nor fitting into often more business focussed tourism departments. Following on from the session on "Tourism Geographies' at the 2014 NZGS/IAG (organised by Ben Iaquinto and Tara Duncan), this session aims to provide a space to highlight the intersections between these two key areas of study and also offer up space to consider what the future might hold for tourism geographies/geographies of tourism.

Contributions are welcome (but not limited to) any of the following themes:
- The future of tourism geographies
- Tourism, geography and climate change
- Tourism and sustainability
- Research methods
- Tourism in the Southern Hemisphere
- The role of tourism geographies in development
- New forms of tourism
- The role of tourism within the geographical discipline
- Tourism and the more-than representational
- Mobilities as the new tourism geography (or is it passé?)
- Tourism and place-making

Please submit abstracts of up to 200 words to Tara Duncan (tara.duncan at otago.ac.nz<mailto:tara.duncan at otago.ac.nz>) by Monday 5th October and see the conference website for more information (http://www.otago.ac.nz/nzgs-conference-2016/index.html).

Thanks and kind regards
