Applications are invited for a PhD scholarship linked to the Health Research Council funded project: Enabling participation for disabled children and young people. The successful applicant will join an established team of researchers from Massey University, University of Auckland and Auckland University of Technology (AUT). The team's recent and current research can be viewed at www.kidsinthecity.co.nz<http://www.kidsinthecity.co.nz>. The student will be based at the SHORE and Whariki Research Centre, Massey University, located in the Auckland CBD. This three year scholarship is valued at NZ $25,000 p.a. (tax free) plus tuition fees.
The research is concerned with understanding how neighbourhoods and communities can support the inclusion, mobility, physical activity and participation of children and young people with mobility and sensory impairments. The successful candidate will work with the children, young people and their parents to understand the disabling attributes of community environments and enablers of community participation. The successful applicant will share responsibility for the collection and analysis of data collected.

It is expected the candidate will hold an honours or master's degree in a health or social science discipline. Applicants must meet the University's selection criteria for entry into the PhD programme.
