We are advertising for a part-time (0.5) Research Fellow for 12 months.
The position is employed through the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) Western Sydney University (WSU) but based at the Fenner School of Environment and Society, at The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra, as part of a joint WSU-ANU project funded by the Bushfires and Natural Hazards CRC.

Applications are sought from humanities and social science candidates to fulfil the role of primary investigator in the project "Scientific Diversity, Scientific Uncertainty and Risk Mitigation Policy and Planning" funded by the Bushfire and Natural Hazards Cooperative Research Centre (BNHCRC), and led by Dr Jessica Weir.
This research project considers the interface of science, knowledge, practice and management in relation to bushfire and flood risk planning, preparedness, response and recovery. This project is in collaboration with the ANU (Assoc Prof Michael Eburn and Prof Steve Dovers) and the position will be based in Canberra at The ANU. Close interaction with industry will be a central part of the Fellowship. Research experience in bushfire/flood risk and risk mitigation would be well-regarded.
The Research Fellow will be located within the Fenner School of Environment and Society at The ANU, and will be employed by Western Sydney University's Institute for Culture and Society (ICS). ICS is located on the Parramatta campus of Western Sydney University.
The appointment is a fixed-term appointment until 31 July 2017, with the possibility of a further six-month period subject to funding and performance.
The University reserves the right to appoint at Academic Level A or Academic Level B depending on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful applicant.
Academic Level A - Salary $37,100 to $44,823 p.a., plus 9.5% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading; OR
Academic Level B - Salary $47,095 to $55,611 p.a., plus 9.5% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading.
(Note: the salary rates stated are the pro-rata rates at 0.5 fraction of the full-time equivalent salary rates)
