Two new lectureships have been created at Curtin to work within the School of Built Environment (in which geography and planning are located). Also, two new research only positions have been created in the Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP).
All 4 positions are open to geographers.

Sustainability and the built environment is a key area of research strength in the Faculty of Humanities and a cornerstone of the Faculty’s teaching programs. It is the primary responsibility of the School of Built Environment and the Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute.
This position, which is co-situated in the School of Built Environment and CUSP, has been created to advance the Faculty’s above-world-standard research performance in sustainability and urban and regional planning, and enhance its exciting cross-disciplinary teaching program in the built environment.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated record of high quality research in urban and regional planning, sustainability policy, urban design, or geography, and a demonstrated capacity for high quality teaching and innovation in curriculum and content design. They will have the skills to undertake industry-facing and industry-embedded research, attract national and international competitive grant funding, and build strong global partnerships. They will be required to teach in the School of Built Environment degree programs and contribute to the CUSP program of scholarly research, while integrating teaching and research activities between the two areas.
To be successful, you will need:
- A doctoral qualification in planning, sustainability or a related built environment discipline with a track record of quality publications in urban and regional planning, sustainability policy, urban design, or geography.
- Demonstrated experience delivering high quality teaching and learning outcomes at a tertiary level.
- Emerging industry, government and community networks and a willingness to further develop those networks.
- Demonstrated competence in geographic information systems.

We are looking for an outstanding research academic with a commitment to sustainability, a publication record, and experience in attracting research funding, to join the Curtin University Sustainability Policy Institute (CUSP).
CUSP is a leading-edge, internationally recognised research, teaching and policy advice provider in sustainability with an innovative approach to its implementation through demonstrations and partnerships with business, government and the community.
As a Research Fellow undertaking research-only activities, your position will contribute to the CUSP research program including sustainable cities, global sustainability, regional sustainability, and green innovation for sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity for you to conduct nationally competitive research, independently and as part of a research team, as well as contributing to service and leadership.
To be successful, you will have a doctoral qualification and an interest in interdisciplinary research. Demonstrated potential to enhance Curtin’s research performance through the publication of high quality, peer-reviewed research is essential as is demonstrated potential in industry research and global partnerships. A record of successful HDR completion is desirable.
This is a research-only position and there will be no requirement to undertake teaching activities except supervision of higher degree by research (HDR) students, including Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Sustainable Development (DSD) students.
