Economic Geography Study Group meeting at the Institute of Australian Geographers (IAG)

In 2016, the Economic Geography Study Group organised a 2018 special journal issue on 'Globalising the Australian Economy' bringing together a mix of prominent and early career Australian economic geographers to examine restructuring of the Australian economy 20 years on from the Fagan and Webber seminal book 'Global Restructuring: The Australian Experience'. A symposium discussing these papers was held at the University of Sydney Business School in November 2016.

The 2017 IAG theme 'Geography Counts' is of particular relevance to the strong tradition of modelling in economic geography, so what better year to convene a strong contingent of scholars passionate about studying economic spatial processes - particularly those in Australia. The Economic Geography Study Group would like to harness this enthusiasm during its annual meeting at the IAG through a discussion of possible cross-national projects to raise the international profile of Australia's scholarly excellence in economic geography. We invite interested conference attendees to submit projects for discussion to:
Phil O'Neill P.ONeill at westernsydney.edu.au<mailto:P.ONeill at westernsydney.edu.au> and Kirsten Martinus kirsten.martinus at uwa.edu.au<mailto:kirsten.martinus at uwa.edu.au> .

Your attendance at the study group meeting in Brisbane is warmly welcomed.
