Dear fellow IAG members, we have a job for a lecturer at Griffith University currently being advertised.

This job may interest planners and geographers. You may have heard that we have been through some recent restructuring. The good news is that it has resulted in a renewed commitment to urban and environmental planning at Griffith. Overview:

Established in 1984, the Griffith School of Environment houses the following five disciplines alongside architecture:  ecology and biodiversity; marine science; society and environment; soil, water and energy; and urban and environmental planning.  The School has a national and international reputation for excellence in teaching, research and engagement with the community, and for its innovative and interdisciplinary approach to environmental education, scholarship and research.

This is a continuing, full time position based at the Gold Coast campus, however the successful applicant may also be required to work on other campuses of the University.

The role:

The position is required to contribute to the delivery of the undergraduate, Honours and Masters programs as well as the supervision of research higher degree students. It is also expected that the successful candidate will undertake their own research/scholarship, produce scholarly publications, and actively compete for funding.

The Person:

With a PhD in environmental studies, planning, geography, or an equivalent social science discipline, the candidate should demonstrate evidence of high quality learning and teaching outcomes at the tertiary level in the field of environmental studies and planning practice, as well as the ability to teach and manage large class sizes.  Some evidence of achievement in research, engagement with new teaching delivery models (e.g. blended learning) and high level communication and interpersonal skills are also needed.

Salary Range:

Lecturer, Level B: $90,697 - $107,706 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $106,116 - $126,017 per annum.
