The Australian Dictionary of Biography (ADB) project at ANU has just gone live with two new digital maps: of Aboriginal reserves, and of gold fields.

You can click on a particular reserve or gold field, to find out all the names of people in the ADB who have some relationship to that place.

Aboriginal missions/reserves. AIATSIS plotted most of the reserves/missions/children's homes and some camps in NSW. ADB intend to expand it to Aust-wide - bit by bit. adb.anu.edu.au/entity/14540<http://peopleaustralia.anu.edu.au/entity/14540>

The other map is of goldfields that they have so far indexed - so it is not complete and suffers from the same deficiency in that the co-ordinates come from Wikipedia. http://adb.anu.edu.au/entity/14978

They hope to write blurbs about each reserve and gold field, like this one on Coranderrk in Victoria
