Hi All,

The People and Environment Program<https://cur.org.au/research-programs/people-and-environment/> (PEP) in the Centre for Urban Research at RMIT are starting a free online seminar series on human-environment relations.

Our first presenter in 2021 will be Ashraful Alam from Otago University, presenting on ‘reimagining shadow infrastructures’. Ash will be presenting from 3-4pm (AEST) on April 29.

Ash will be exploring the ‘more-than-social’ life of a range of interstitial spaces that evolve between, under and over deliberately designed urban infrastructures. In particular, how do these spaces afford specific performances and privileges to marginalised actors, specifically migrant women? The work being presented will re-imagine urban socio-spatialities as ‘shadow infrastructures’ to inform alternate infrastructural politics in unequal cities.

You can sign up via Eventbrite here:

Keep an eye on the list and @PEP_CUR on Twitter for dates and times for future talks, involving presenters such as Amelia Hine, Angeliki Balanyannis, Franciso Gelvez-Gomez, Bhiamie Williamson, Jenny Atchison and more.

We hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Ben Cooke and Cecily Maller
