Join us for the next online talk in our series on human-environment relations, hosted by the People and Environment Program<https://cur.org.au/research-programs/people-and-environment/> (PEP) at the RMIT Centre for Urban Research.
Bhiamie Williamson will be presenting ‘Decolonising People and Environment’, July 29, 12:30-1:30pm (AEST).
Summary: Why is it important to acknowledge Country in the middle of the city? This seminar explores this question and considers the meaning of ‘Country’ and ‘Connection to Country’ within urban landscapes. It will consider cultural burning as one way that Indigenous peoples are reconnecting to Country within Australia’s cities, whilst also drawing on the strategies of Indigenous peoples throughout other parts of the world to decolonise cityscapes.
