Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Human Geography

The School of Geography, Environment and Earth Science is seeking a suitably qualified, energetic, and innovative colleague for the position of Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Human Geography. The successful candidate will have a PhD in Geography or closely allied social science, relevant publications in refereed journals and teaching experience at undergraduate level. We welcome applicants who are highly effective teachers and communicators, and whose research lends itself to interdisciplinary collaboration.

We are a highly active research group who critically engage with geographical issues across the world. Alongside maintaining a strong research programme, the appointed Lecturer/Senior Lecturer will take a key role in teaching first year Human Geography, teach and supervise at postgraduate level and contribute to other undergraduate teaching as required. Applications from any area in human geography will be considered, and we welcome ideas on how the candidate may complement our current research and teaching strengths.

Human Geography at Victoria University of Wellington was ranked first in 2006 and joint first in the most recent (2012) New Zealand Performance based research fund exercise. It ranks in the top 100 programmes in Human Geography globally according to the UK Times.
