The current National Library building turns 50 this year.

On Saturday the National Library is holding an open day to celebrate, with displays and tours (beside this year's free and ongoing '1968' exhibition)

Geographers will be interested in this history of the Library written by former curator of music, Robyn Holmes, especially its section on the library as a 'national symbol of place'.
