CALL FOR ABSTRACTS: 5th annual AUSTRALIAN SOCIAL NETWORK ANALYSIS CONFERENCE (ASNAC)

 

25-27 NOVEMBER 2020, PERTH, AUSTRALIA

 

 

LOCAL CONFERENCE ORGANISERS: Dr Kirsten Martinus (University of Western Australia), Dr Roberto Musotto (Edith Cowan University), Dr Jordan Tchilingirian (University of Western Australia)

 

 

This conference marks the fifth national meeting in Australia for social network analysis researchers and practitioners, and is organised by members of the Australian Network for Social Network Analysis (ANSNA).  ANSNA aims to build greater coordination and collaboration among social network researchers and practitioners in Australia and overseas, raising the profile of Australian social network research. The conference will be held in 25th-27th November 2020 in Perth at the University of Western Australia. 

Key note speakers will be: Emmanuel Lazega is Professor of Sociology at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po); and, Lucia Falzon is a Senior Fellow of the Defence Science and Technology (DST) Group in the Australian Department of Defence.

 

We understand the uncertainty during COVID-19, and so at this time are preparing for both a virtual and physical meeting. We encourage submissions on any topic to which the theory, method or application of SNA is applied. The session topics would include, but are not limited to:

  1. Crime networks;
  2. Networks and organisations;
  3. Health;
  4. Social media;
  5. Social enterprise;
  6. Governance;
  7. Network methods;
  8. Networks in policy and politics;
  9. Cultural networks;
  10. Urban and city networks and
  11. Narrative analysis.

 

The conference will be held on the 26th and 27th of November, with a series of exciting workshops run on the 25th (https://www.ansna.org.au/preconference-workshops). We invite interested authors to submit your abstracts of no more than 300 words by 15th August 2020 by email to: ASNAC2020@uwa.edu.au . The ASNAC 2020 Organising Committee for the conference will evaluate the submissions and the results will be emailed by 30 August 2020.

There are $500 scholarships available to PhD students (for those located outside of Adelaide) to help cover travel costs and accommodation. These are competitive and will be allocated according to merit and need. To apply, students must submit an abstract of no more than 1-page which relates to a poster they will present at the conference, as well as a statement of why they require the scholarship. The best PhD poster will receive an award.
